Tasapaino -Re3 members on action!

When part of our Re3 group was on a guided tour to the Weaving Mill area the others were on action at Tasapaino. Getting familiar with textile printing today in the area.

Tasapaino is a small company. It provides a printing service by making from the customer's request / need decor and clothing fabrics.

The colors used in printing are pigment colors. The design either their own or customers.

Tasapaino has also a shop and anyone can book an acitve session on printing there with their friends.

Here we start our work!

We are goint to print linen.



Here is made the sieves, that we are using printing the linens.

Back to work...The sieve is set on the linen, some color is added and the color is drawn few time through the sieve.



After it the sieve is taken off.

The linen is left to dry.

When the linen is dry, its possible to add another color to it.

After the use, the sieve has to be washed, so you can use it again.

It is important to get all the colors off.

For one group, 1-1,5 hour was spend in Tasapaino printing.

Strew the A. W. Wahren statue with textile flowers!

Design with a thought

 

On Thursday 28.8. our guests from Apolda and Bialystok came to see us and Forssa. Straigh from the bus we took them to the Art Häme opening in Community Hall to see a fashion stroll, colourful skirts weared by designers. After the official opening program, we walked to the Spinning Mill area and participated on Morron slippery and Flower workshop.

First they had to choose the textile and the style of flower they prefered to make.

This was not a serious moment, but thought was given in to it.

This flower was made on a wooden stick.

Wheather the flower was given a shape of a rose or a cactus depended on the maker.

The flower were made by cutting wheather proof textile.

Sewed together.

And after we finnished...

At 6 pm.

We decorated the A. W. Wahren statue with the flowers we made ...

... and with the flowers the children had made earlier in the week...

It was a moment...

...for the memory of a great man,

the founder of textile industry in Forssa.

The event was open for everyone.

And there was also many local people attending.

The flower were left there...

... as we continued the evening elsewhere.

Re3 guests at moron-tossu workshop!

Moron-tossu workshop at Forssa museum

On Thursday 28th, Forssa museum organized Moron-tossu workshop open for everyone. Moron-tossu is a slipper made from textile strips, it is old traditional textileshoe used at Forssa.

 

In Re3 -project Forssa museums aim is to revive the technique, how the slippery was made, reuse materials making the shoe and also with local people remember the stories and memories they have on the use and making of the slipper. 

In the summer 2014, Titi and Karita were trying different techniques to solve, how the slipper was made.

Forssa museum has in its own collections one old slipper and lasts, which is used making of the slipper.

For making the shoe, you also need textile strips.

The first Moron-tossu workshop was 16.8. and the next 28.8, when our Re3 -guests arrived to Forssa.

Our Re3 -guests had the possibility to try to learn, how the slippery was made as well as all the visitors that day in the museum.

The workshop was full.

Almost too full, because everyone did not get the chance to try to make the shoe.

Making a pair of moron-tossu takes c. 6 hours.

The workshop was only for 3 hours.

But the idea was, that people get the chance to try the technique and hopefully later on use the learned skill.

On Friday 29.8. in Forssa news was an article written about our guests and the workshop.

In the workshop there was also our finnish Re3 members.

Because the workshop was so popular, there will come continuation for the workshop in the future.

So, if you got interested, come along and take part on our Re3 -project. Maybe you will also learn the technique.
